PHARMACY/ MATERIALS MANAGEMENT TECH
Order, dispense, and distribute drugs for use in the hospital and ER. Responsible for stocking Med Dispense System. Maintains inventory of meds and supplies and reorders them accordingly. Processes records of medications and supplies dispensed to patients, computes charges, and enters them into the computer. Receives and stores incoming deliveries of medication and supplies for medication. Assists the Pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly, must be able to understand dosage variations, and know to consult with the Pharmacist if any doubts or questions arise. Responsible for keeping accurate inventory and counts in the system as well as in the department. Performs inventory monthly to identify expired items and make adjustments as needed, as well as an annual complete inventory. Must be able to catch and process recalls and returns. Maintains the Pharmacy Department in a clean and orderly manner. Performs chart checks behind the nurses and pharmacist.
Responsible for the ordering, receipt, storage, and distribution of materials delivered to the Materials Management Department by various vendors. Responsible for the PAR Level Systems throughout the facility, including the adjustment of stock levels.
Must be a self-starter; initiate the meeting of responsibilities without prompting, show efficiency by keeping workflow in order and inventory a priority. Must be prepared to work in a high-paced environment with exceptional multi-tasking skills. Must be dedicated to applying skills to continuously improve the performance of the facility.
Physical demands include lifting (up to 50 lbs) walking, bending, stopping, reaching and use of ladders. Inventory management skills to identify and prevent shrinkage. Works closely with Central Supply Tech. Must be willing to help with other duties as assigned.
If applicant does not currently have Pharmacy Tech Certification, must be enrolled in Pharmacy Tech Certification program with 6 weeks of hire date.
• Full-time, Monday – Friday (Hours vary)
• Must be available to work weekends if needed
• Current LPN licensure in State of Alabama required
• Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred
• Typing and computer skills required
